Helpful Wife Earns Chance To Cool Off
CLAYTON, N.C. -- The hot, humid North Carolina summer was even more uncomfortable for Robert and Rene Hanson and their family until Triangle Wishes came along.
The compressor on their air conditioner went out over the Easter weekend, and they didn't have the $800 needed to repair it, Robert said.
So he wrote to NBC17 to ask Triangle Wishes to fix the unit as a present for his wife. She has asthma, and being in a steamy house is bad for her health.
But more than that, Rene also serves as Robert's eyes.
"I'm legally blind, and she drives me everywhere I need to go and never complains about it," he said.
Triangle Wishes arranged for
Biggs HVAC
to repair the air conditioner. In addition to working on the compressor, the company also replaced the Hansons' thermostat with a digital model. Robert said the large numbers on the thermostat will make it easier for him to set it properly.
"We want to give something back to the community because they support us by keeping us in business. So, if we can support them we want to do it," said Steve Eisenmann,
General Manager of Biggs HVAC.
"I'm surprised and overwhelmed," Rene said.
Biggs HVAC technicians plan to make another trip to the Hansons' house before the end of the year to check the family's heating system. |
