05 Apr Is Your Thermostat Working Correctly?
The thermostat is the most important part of the HVAC system. Without it you would not be able to control its heating and cooling. That is why it is important that you make sure that your thermostat is always working correctly. But you may be asking “how would I know if my thermostat is working correctly?”
Here are just a couple ways to find out.
- Does it work? No, we are not questioning your intelligence when asking you this question for this is a serious question. When we ask you if it “works” we are asking if you hear a “clicking” sound when you are turning your thermostat. If you are not hearing a “clicking” sound then you may have a defective thermostat.
- Hot and cold temperatures at the same time Experiencing both hot and cold temperatures, at the same time, is a prime example of having a faulty thermostat. It should not be brisk in one room while toasty in the next. A faulty thermostat can cause your HVAC system to turn on and off at the wrong times making it much more difficult for each room to receive the same temperature.
Repair or Replace? That is the Question
So now that you’ve gone through our steps and realized that your thermostat is not working correctly you may be asking “What’s next? Do I replace or repair?”
This step can be simple, for the thermostat may just need a new battery or a cleaning from dirt build-up. But before you do anything make sure you read the manual first, not doing so could make the situation worst.
If those two things do not help the situation it is best that you call an expert, for it could be more serious. They will let you know if it is able to be repaired or if it needs to be replaced.
